Webinar: Taking your Rover further with Micro:Bit and OpenMV
Webinar: Taking your Rover further with Micro:Bit and OpenMV
Date: 12th August 2025
Location: Online via Zoom Link
In this hands-on workshop, using the Micromelon Rover, we will guide you on how to take your rover further by taking control of its motors, sensors and LEDs using Micro:Bit and OpenMV development boards. This allows for more advanced programs to be created, as well as builds other schools and languages that aren't otherwise available within the Micromelon Code Editor.
Along the way we will share a few starter as well as some more advanced challenges you can set your high school students in order to get them comfortable with programming in Python and other languages.
By the end of the session you will:
Learn how to connect other Microcontrollers to your Micromelon Rover via UART and take control of the Rovers motors, sensors and LEDs.
Learn some basic electronics wiring to connect the two together, including some diagrams to provide students.
Learn a bit more about how the Rover works under the hood, including how to write motor commands and read from sensors from the expansion header.
Have a few starter activities to get your students started on their preferred Microcontroller.
